Volunteer Day Saturday April 4th - Come and join us!
As usual, we will be running a Volunteer Day on the first Saturday of the Month. The next volunteer day will be on Saturday April 4th (starting at 10 AM) when we will be working to restore the 'Long Walk' (this is the central path that runs the whole length of the site). After many years of muddy boots and heavy wheelbarrows it has become uneven and rutted. During winter it was very muddy and dangerously slippery.
So, the sand and grass seed has been ordered and turf is on its way! This is our chance to make the path easier to walk along and, more importantly, safer for our older plot holders.
We hope you will join us to help out and feel part of our gardening community!
Our start time is 10 AM - Saturday the 4th of April. Please come to the main double gate on Northfield Avenue - close to the two bus stops (map below).
We will stop mid morning for tea and cake and we usually wrap things up around 1 PM.
We really appreciate all the help our volunteers have given us. So, on the last two Volunteer Days we have had a barbeque to thank everyone for their help. Yes, you are reading it right, we did have a barbeque in February and one in March! We will be having another for our Volunteer Day in April!
We do have tools; forks, secateurs and wheelbarrows and gardening gloves. However, if you have your own fork or gloves feel free to bring them along. Just in case we run out.
Please wear sensible shoes for gardening, getting muddy and to protect your feet. Paths are uneven and can be slippery when wet.
If it rains we will NOT cancel. Remember: 'There's no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes'...
If you have any questions do contact us by email. We look forward to seeing you on Saturday the 4th of April at 10 am at the big double gates on Northfield Ave (map above). We do hope you will come along, we are a friendly bunch and the sausages are good!
See you there and happy spring!!
